Fortunately, Sony may be toying with the idea of condensing two of its PlayStation controllers into one. The patent in question, which was filed in May last year but has only just reached the interwebs, reveals a standard SixAxis motion controller that you can separate down the middle into two Move wands, for those moments of gaming where you need to flail your arms around like a loon....

A leaked image, published by Destructoid, shows a DualShock-style controller with a glowing blue light, PlayStation logo button and, crucially, what appears to be a touchpad in the middle, sitting just above the twin analogue sticks. Destructoid says “multiple sources” have confirmed that the photo is real, but of an early prototype of the PS4 controller, so expect the actual one to look slightly different when it’s unveiled atnext week’s PlayStation 4 launch event....

PS4 will get backwards compatibility via the Sony-owned, OnLive-style Gaikai service, says Wall Street Journal The PlayStation 4 won’t be backwards compatible with existing PS3 games via a Blu-ray drive – but will apparently support OnLive-style game streaming instead. That’s according to a report by the Wall Street Journal, which claims the console will make PS3 titles and other games available via cloud gaming service Gaikai (bought by Sony last year for US$380 million)....
