CES 2022: All the major announcements from the huge tech show

After last year’s all-digital event, the world’s largest tech conference is back in Las Vegas for 2022. Here are all the latest news and announcements from the showroom floor at CES 2022.
CES – Consumer Electronics Show – sets its sights on Vegas every January and marks the beginning of the year for many major tech brands. Expect to see a huge range of new products from TVs and laptops to phones and home tech.
Last year, the event was forced online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. While the organisers made the decision to return to a physical event in 2022, whether or not it retains the scale of previous years remains to be seen, especially as a number of companies opted to forego an appearance this year.

CES 2022 dates
CES is a week-long event split up into two distinct sections. Monday, January 3 sees the CES Unveiled curtain raiser. Tuesday January 4 is the Media Day where many of the major press conferences take place – that includes LG, Sony, Samsung, Intel and Qualcomm.
On Wednesday, January 5, the show officially opens to the media and other registered attendants. The show floor is open until Friday, January 7. These latter few days tend to be home to quirkier releases, from those who don’t have a large presence.
Even with the spread of the Omicron variant causing high profile companies to cancel the in-person portion of their presence, it seems that CES has been a fairly busy show. Over 1900 companies have attended, with large events put on by the likes of Sony, Samsung and LG.
Samsung at CES 2022
Samsung finally made theSamsung Galaxy S21 FEofficial this week following months of uncertainty, with the cheaper version of the excellent Galaxy S21 phone making an appearance. We don’t, expect to see the brand’s next flagship series, likely theGalaxy S22, announced though.
One product we did see during the brand’s keynote on Tuesday was the newFreestyle projector– a small 0.83kg portable projector that can beam a 1080p image from 30 to 100-inches on any wall or surface.
We’ve already seen a preview of the newSamsung QLED televisions for 2022, along with a newEco Remote charged by Wi-Fi radio wavesto go with those fancy sets.
Samsung has also unveiled what it claims is the world’s first 4K 240Hz gaming monitor with theOdyssey Neo G8.
Trusted Take: Phones at CES 2022
Phones don’t really get much limelight at CES, with the majority of the big releases saved for MWC in February or individual events. We might see Samsung launch the S21 FE, TCL show off some new Android devices and Qualcomm talk more about its new chips. Beyond that, we’re not expecting much.

Nvidiaat CES 2022
Nvidia made several major announcements during CES 2022. Firstly, it revealed it will launch theRTX 3050, which will become the most affordable graphics card in the 30-Series range. Nvidia claims it will be capable of going beyond 60fps when playing modern games in 1080p.
Laptop fans should also be happy, as Nvidia revealed the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti mobile GPUs, with the former taking gaming laptop performance to all-new heights.
Nvidia also teased theRTX 3090 Ti, its most powerful consumer graphics card that features a 21Gbps GDDR6X memory from Micron, a step up on the 19.5Gbps memory of the RTX 3090. We didn’t get a huge amount of detail about the new GPU, but Nvidia promised we’ll hear more about it later in January.
Intelat CES 2022
CES 2022 was a big event for Intel, as it revealed its new12th Generation Intel Core processorsfor laptops. Intel claims the new processors boast up to a 40% performance boost compared to the previous generation, apparently making the flagship Intel Core i9-12900HK the most powerful mobile processor in the world.
Intel also teased its upcoming Arc GPUs, by confirming that it’s shipping the very first Alchemist GPUs to OEM customers for both desktop PCs and laptops. The company didn’t reveal an exact launch window, but it’s something to keep an eye on in 2022.
AMD at CES 2022
AMD announced a range of new processors at the conference, including the “world’s fastest gaming processor” in theRyzen 7 5800X3D. The processor marks the first CPU to use AMD’s new 3D V-Cache technology, offering substantial performance gains over previous chips.
The company also unveiled theRyzen 6000-seriesprocessors for laptops, offering an 11% single-threaded performance boost over the previous generation, along with a 28% increase in multi-threaded performance.
Sonyat CES 2022
This CES, Sony announced a new array ofBravia XR TVs, including the new MASTER Series Z9K 8K and X95K 4KMini LED, MASTER Series A95K, MASTER Series A90K and A80K 4K OLED, and X90K 4K LED. Rumours of a QD-OLED TV in 55- and 65-inch sizes rang true, beating out Samsung’s expected announcement.
Sony also revealedthe name of its next virtual reality headsetin thePSVR 2. The company says the headset will include a 4K HDR OLED display, foveated rendering and an expanded field of view over its predecessor.
The PSVR 2 will also feature eye tracking technology and subtle responsive vibrations similar to what you’d find on a game controller. Sony announced a new VR game coming to the platform in Horizon Call of the Mountain.
When it comes to audio, we’re not expecting any significant launches. Sony tends to reveal its latest audio products closer to the release date, but we did expect an update on its Reality 360 Audio format but instead got news on its 360 Spatial Sound Mapping for its soundbars.
LGat CES 2022
LG has had a very busy CES 2022, with a number of devices revealed.
LG revealed the new G2 OLED evo television, which will be capable of hitting a higher brightness than ever before. The TV screen sizes will range from 55 inches all the way up to 95-inches.
The company also unveiled the LG PuriCare Aero Tower, which is an air purifier, heater and fan all wrapped into one device.
There were even some left-field gadgets such as the CLOi Guidebot, which is a robot with a touchscreen that can move move around a hopping mall, guiding shoppers to their destination and looking out for anyone who needs help.
And finally, LG unveiled the Vision OmniPod, which is a concept autonomous car designed to let you chill in the metaverse while you travel. You can find out more by checking out ourLG CES 2022hub.
Panasonic at CES 2022
For 2022, Panasonic unveiled theLZ2000 OLED TV, which will be available in a massive 77-inch screen size. Panasonic claims it has made improvements to the mid-level brightness, which should apparently produce more pop for HDR content, while providing improved accuracy for brighter scenes.
The latest picture optimisation features will also reportedly deliver “a natural experience” throughout the day, since it’s capable of detecting the ambient room light colour temperature of your home and adjusting the picture accordingly.
TCL at CES 2022
TCL announced a range of new tech at the conference this year, including its next-gen Mini LED TVs, a huge range of new tablets and the Nxtwear Air glasses. You can read more about all of the new products in our guide toTCL at CES 2022.
One of the most notable announcements this year was the company’s first TCLMini LED TVcapable of hitting a 144Hz refresh rate, which is sure to catch gamers’ eyes.
Razer at CES 2022
Razer launched a range of new gaming laptops at CES this year, including updates to itsRazer Blade 14, Razer Blade 15 and Razer Blade 17lines.
The new Blade 14 is powered by the new Ryzen 6000 mobile processors, while the Blade 15 and 17 will take advantage of the 12th generation Intel Core H-Series CPUs. The Blade series will once again feature Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 30 Series laptop GPUs, but with the addition of the new RTX 3080 Ti and the 3070 Ti.
Lenovo at CES 2022
Lenovo kicked off its CES announcements by revealing an update to itsSmart Clock Essentialwith a new, eight-mode Ambient Light docking accessory and Amazon’s Alexa smart assistant built-in.
The company also announced an array of new laptops and monitors coming to its computing line-up, including Yoga 2-in-1 devices, Legion gaming laptops and a range of new ThinkPad and ThinkBook models for more business-oriented users. HP at CES 2022
HP is another computing brand that chose CES to unveil a range of new laptops, desktop PCs and monitors.
Some of the most notable announcements included the new HP Elite Dragonfly G3 business-focussed laptop, the HP Elite Dragonfly G3 Chromebook for ChromeOS lovers, the HP Z2 Mini G9 mini desktop PC and the HP Omen 27u 4K Gaming Monitor. Acer at CES 2022
Acer announced its own range of laptops for the new year, including the Acer Swift X 2022 for creatives, the sustainability-focussed Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition and the Nitro 5 and Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop.

Asus at CES 2022
Asus unveiled its latest range of gaming laptops, including the Asus ROG Flow Z13, which is a tablet with a magnetic keyboard similar to Microsoft’s Surface Pro design.
The brand also announced the ultra-portable new ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 and the dual-screen ROG Zephyrus Duo 16, all of which you can read more about in our guide toAsus at CES 2022.
JBL at CES 2022
JBL announced a new pair of true wireless earbuds in its Live range, theLive Pro 2. These earbuds pack more microphone, a longer battery life and mark the addition of True Adaptive Noise Cancelling to the Live line.
The company also launched itsfirst true wireless gaming headset, the JBL Quantum TWS, along with two over-ear headsets, the Quantum 810 and the Quantum 610, and the new Quantum Stream microphone.

CES 2022 looks to be full of PC gaming announcements. Since Intel finally got back in the game with 12th Gen the PC gaming market has had a much-needed shakeup. This plus potential news about Nvidia’s new GPUs should make it one of the most interesting shows to date for budding and hardcore PC builders and gamers.
