CES 2024: Lenovo Unveils a New Budget Tablet Tab M11 at $179, 90Hz Display, Helio G88 SoC

The much-awaited tech event of the year, CES 2024 has kicked off with a new budget tablet from Lenovo. Lenovo has introduced an upgraded version of its popular budget tablet, the Tab M11, promising exciting new features at an affordable price.
The Lenovo Tab M11, a successor to theYoga Tab 11, emerges as a noteworthy option for customers seeking an affordable yet capable tablet. Priced at $179, this tablet seemingly packs a bunch of features and decent specs.
The Lenovo Tab M11 comes with an 11-inch display boasting a 90Hz refresh rate and powered by a MediaTek Helio G88 Octa-core processor. It is launched with two variants 4GB RAM+64GB Storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage. The internal storage can be further expanded via microSD card. We think Lenovo gets an upper hand over both iPad base model and Pixel tablet base variant by giving a higher refresh rate at 90Hz. Of course, we are not sure how G88 chipset by MediaTek will handle the performance.
The tablet’s design maintains Lenovo’s signature style with a two-tone finish, measuring a slim 0.28-inches thick and weighing just 1 pound. Positioning the tablet as a reading-friendly device, Lenovo has included a ‘Reading Mode’ feature that aims to reduce eye strain during extended use. We guess it is pretty much like the Blue Light filter that we see on many Android devices including Samsung tabs. In the camera department, this tablet sports an 8MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera.
Running on Android 13 out-of-the-box, the Tab M11 also features an app called ‘MyScript Calculator 2,’ that allows real-time equation solving, potentially appealing to students and professionals alike. Moreover, the tablet also supports the Lenovo Tab Pen, allowing users to convert handwriting into text. Lenovo promises the Tab M11 2 major updates and security patches up to the year 2028, that’s definitely a good point to add-on for a budget device.
Although Lenovo is not marketing the Tab M11 as a laptop substitute, the device does come bundled with an office app like the WPS Office which enables document viewing and editing. Additionally, the tablet’s split-screen mode allows multitasking, coupled by Dolby Atmos speakers for better audio quality.
Lenovo claims a robust 7,040mAh battery with USB-C charging, boasting a 10-hour lifespan per charge. Well, we will put this claim to test once we get our hands on the Tab M11. At $179, the Tab M11 seems to be a value for money tablet by Lenovo.
