Lenovo is on the cusp of releasing the newest version of its popular IdeaPad Duet 5 2-in-1 tablet, updated with 13th-generation Intel Core U series processors.
Lenovo has yet to announce the price or availability of their latest Ideapad Duet 5 12IRU8, though they have released detailed specifications on their site. This new version appears similar to last year’s model but is equipped with enhanced performance capabilities for an even better experience.
For the 2022IdeaPad Duet5i, customers had the option to choose between Intel Pentium 8505 and Core i7-1255U Alder Lake-U processors coupled with 4GB to 16GB of RAM. Fast forward one year, and now users can select from an upgraded range of Core i3-1315U through Core i7-1355U chips accompanied by 8GB to 16GB of RAM.
To put it differently, entry-level models should be more powerful, and all versions of the device should experience an upgrade with regard to performance due to the shift from 12th-generation Intel Core chips to 13th-generation.
The IdeaPad Duet 5 boasts a 12.4-inch display, with 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution and up to 500 nits of brightness – plus 95% DCI-P3 color gamut for topnotch visuals and Dolby Vision support too! This device is equipped with LPDDR4x-4266 memory soldered onto the mainboard that cannot be upgraded by users, as well as an M.2 2242 slot that allows you to install up to 512GB PCI 4.0 SSDs if needed (and they are user replaceable).
Besides the stereo 2W speakers with Dolby Atmos sound, this device also comes complete with a 5MP front-facing fixed-focus camera featuring IR support for facial recognition, a 5MP rear camera that allows auto-focusing capabilities, and a 50Wh battery bolstered by a 65W USB-C adapter.
The tablet boasts a lightweight magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis and is available in both bold “stone blue” and slick “storm grey” colors. It features two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports for fast charging, video output, and a handy 3.5mm audio jack—all accompanying WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
Lenovo is also offering accessories, including aFolio casewith an integrated keyboard that can either attach securely to the tablet using pogo pins or link up wirelessly via Bluetooth. Plus, there’s also a Digital Pen 3 active stylus – boasting 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity.
Lenovo’s tablet measures 288.3 x 190.3 x 9.5mm (11.4 “x7.5″ x0.4”) and only weighs 839 kg (1 85 pounds). When combined with its Folio case, the device still only composes 1.19 kgs (2.62 pounds) – making it light enough for on-the-go needs.
