New iPad 3 to come with LTE in Europe

The new iPad comes armed with LTE support – even though much of Europe doesn’t have 4G yet

The new iPad will be available with LTE built in – even in Europe.

It looks like continental European dwellers languishing in the patchy depths of 3G will be able to have LTE on their new iPad, allowing them up to 72Mbps if they venture into LTE-connected lands like the US.

You’ll likely need a US SIM, or a serious data package, to enjoy LTE benefits on your new iPad – but it’s nice to know you it’s there if you need it. There are some limitations, though. The new iPad works with America’s 700MHz and 2100MHz LTE – but won’t work in countries like Germany, which uses 800MHz and 2600MHz LTE. Tut tut Apple.

The one odd part in this tale is that, apparently, the new iPad will only work on Verizon or AT&T in the US, depending on where it (or the SIM) was purchased. We’re taking this strange U-turn with a pinch of salt for now and will update you when we have more details. In the meantime, check out ourin depth new iPad 3 review.
