The Nvidia RTX 4070 was initially rumoured to be one of the very first graphics cards in the newNvidia RTX 4000range.

However, Nvidia failed to mention the mid-range card during the GTC 2022 keynote, instead focusing on theNvidia RTX 4090andRTX 4080cards.

We’re still confident that Nvidia is working on a new RTX 4070 graphics card, but it’s anyone’s guess when it will actually be available to buy.

Read on to find out everything we know.

Release date

Release date

Since the Nvidia RTX 4070 failed to make an appearance during the GTC 2022 keynote, it’s difficult to know whether it will launch in 2022.

If it does launch this year, it will likely be after the Nvidia RTX 4080 which is pencilled in for November. That leaves late November to December, which is cutting it close to Christmas.

It’s looking increasingly likely that it will launch in early 2023 instead. We’ll make sure to update this article as soon as we hear more.

Price

Nvidia has not released any information on the pricing for the Nvidia RTX 4070, though we can say that theNvidia RTX 3070launched at £469/$499, so we may see a similar price point this year.

But with both the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 seeing significant price increases on their predecessors, it’s looking likely that the RTX 4070 could see a similar fate.

Specs

The Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU will almost definitely be built upon the sameLovelacearchitecture as its RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 siblings. That means it’s using a 4nm process node, benefitting from as many as 76 billion transistors. That’s a big upgrade on the 28 billion transistors found with the Ampere generation, signalling a significant generational performance uplift.

This means it will also feature 3rd Generation RT Core, which will help to improve theray tracingperformance. The 4th Gen Tensor Upgrade will also allow the GPU to useDLSS3.0, which provides major performance gains for supported games.

Since the Nvidia RTX 4070 has not been officially revealed, there’s still no word of CUDA Core counts.TweakTownsuggests the RTX 4070 could feature 10,752 CUDA Cores, which is a big increase on the RTX 3070’s 5888 count.

Other reports indicate that the RTX 4070 will feature GDDR6X memory, which would make sense since the other GPUs in the range currently use the standard.

While that’s everything we know about the Nvidia RTX 4070 right now, be sure to bookmark this page, as we will be updating this article as soon as more news breaks.
