Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2019): What We Know So Far

Following the launch of a couple of its 2019 range of mid-range tablets, Samsung appears all set to announce a new entry-level tablet under its A series allegedly called theGalaxy Tab A 7.0 (2019). In fact, the tablet may have already been certified by FCC indicating its possible launch within the next few weeks. The last iteration of the tablet was announced all the way back in 2016, and following the footsteps of Apple with the2019 iPad Mini, the South Korean company is expected to refresh its small-sized tablet sometime later this year with a few upgrades. Here is everything that we already know about the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2019).
Straight from the Federal Communication Commission (FCC)
The most recent development around the Samsung tablet came after its approval from FCC that revealed some of its design schematics, model number, and a handful of specifications. As per the schematics, the tablet will share its rear design with the recently launchedGalaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019), including the panel moldings and the square camera placed in the top-left corner. The FCC listing reiterates the model number SM-T295, which has been suggested in previous leaks as well and confirms that the model will support 4G LTE besides Wi-Fi. Another particular mentioned is its battery capacity which is rated at 4,980mAh, in contrast to the 4,000mAh unit found inside the 2016 Galaxy Tab A 7.0.
The Geekbench Saga
Back in April, a Samsung device bearing the model number SM-T295 appeared on Geekbench revealing quite a few of its details. First off, the benchmarking tool gave the budget tablet a score of 866 and 2,491 points respectively for single-core and multi-core tests. These meager scores are indicative of the fact that the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2019) will indeed be an entry-level product best for basic tasks. Geekbench listings are known to share only minimal information about the concerned product and this one is no different.
It states that the Samsung-branded tablet will come with a quad-core Qualcomm processor clocked at 2.02 GHz and 2GB of RAM. These specifications barely qualify to make the tablet usable but it should be adequate for people with a tight budget and basic requirements like its predecessor was. One thing that stands out is the inclusion of Android 9 Pie, hopefully with the latest One UI, which will be a fantastic thing for the tablet mainly because Samsung is historically known to include a generation-old software in its low-cost products.
Usually, the surfacing of an FCC listing means the concerned product is made official within a few weeks or maybe a month. Considering this, it is pretty safe to assume that the tech giant will make the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2019) official not too long from now. The company can also announce a Wi-Fi only variant of the tablet carrying the model number SM-T290, though there is absolutely no information about the variant as of now. Samsung already has a strong tablet portfolio for 2019 in place with the recent launches of theGalaxy Tab S5e, Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019), and theGalaxy Tab A 8 (2019), and with the upcoming budget offering, the company will be able to cover the entry-level segment as well.
