Samsung Galaxy Tab S3: Android 8.0 Oreo OTA Update Started
Samsung has started to roll out an Android 8.0 Oreo OTA update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. It is one of the first tablets to get an Oreo update.

Samsung has started to roll out an OTA update to Android 8.0 Oreo for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. As of now, it is available for the LTE and WiFi versions in the UK only. However, it shouldn’t take to long until it is available worldwide.
Usually, updates like these are rolled out in waves. So, it might take a while until Android 8.0 is available for every Galaxy Tab S3 out there. Once it is available, you should get a notification by Samsung. But you can check in the settings manually whether the update is available for you yet.
The update has the build number T820XXU1BRE2. In addition to Oreo and its features, the Galaxy Tab S3 also gets the Samsung Experience in version 9.0. That is the own user interface from Samsung. It should give us the same features we are already familiar with from recent Galaxy S smartphones.

Even though Android 8.0 has been available for a lot of phones for month now, the Galaxy Tab S3 is only the second tablet to receive that update. The Google Pixel C has it already but is not sold anymore. Also, the Huawei MediaPad M5 series is directly shipped with Android 8.0 Oreo. Besides that, as of now, those three are the only tablets running Oreo.
We don’t know if the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 will receive similar updates. Both are a couple of years old already and did receive updates in the past. So, they might be at the end of their life cycle. However, Samsung did release minor hardware updates for both. While I wouldn’t count on it with absolute certainty, they might get updates in a couple of month.
