Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Series Might Ditch Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC
The upcoming Galaxy Tab S9 series might come powered with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 instead of Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset.

As we reported earlier, Samsung’s much-awaited Galaxy Tab S9 series is in the works and is expected to go official sometime this year. But before the launch, new details about the device have been swirling around in the rumor mill. In thelatest report, it’s tipped that the upcoming flagship might not feature the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset but instead, make do with the last year’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.
Undoubtedly, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a powerful flagship-grade chipset that surpasses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on Samsung’sGalaxy Tab S8series. As such, the upcoming Tab S9 lineup could be expected to offer heightened performance than its predecessors.
Samsung typically supplies its tablets with the same, if not better, features than other devices in their lineup. This means that it would be extraordinary for the Tab S9 to include a chipset lower than Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 featured in the Galaxy S23 series.
Despite its reputable source, it’s likely this rumor may not be grounded and should be taken with a grain of salt. We’ll keep you in the loop no matter what comes out of it.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 With IP67 Rating
As peranother report, the Tab S9 series is anticipated to hit the market later this year, featuring IP67 ratings that will make them stand out from other tablets. This would be the first time Samsung would include IP67 water and dust resistance in its tablets. The South Korean giant is likely to launch three tablets in the Tab S9 series — Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+, and Tab S9 Ultra.
Samsung’s tablet releases typically follow an 18-month cycle for their newest version. With the Galaxy Tab S8 being unveiled in February of last year alongside Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series, we anticipate that the Tab S9 might release around August this year.
