Sharp ramping up production of displays for Apple’s iTV
Apple’s making so many iTVs that Sharp has upped LED production
We’ve been hearing more and more buzz about the rumoured Apple iTV – and those rumours have become more concrete as screen supplier Sharp steps up production of displays reportedly destined for Apple’s next-gen tellybox. So great is the demand that Sharp has called in the cavalry in the form of LED supplierGenesis.
We already know thatApple iTV is being testedin homes right now. We also know it should be coming in40inand50inversions, both sportingSiri style voice controls. Screen production companies LG, Sharp and Samsung are all Apple suppliers butSharpis struggling. It has asked LED production company Genesis to start supplying it with greater numbers, presumably in a bid to meet Apple demands.
So when can we expect a shiny Apple screen in our lounge? 2012 is more than likely, but with theiPad 3 coming March 7thand theiPhone 5 expected June 10th, we may have to wait untilSeptember for the unveiling of Apple TV.
