The PS4 will play second hand games
Worry ye not fair gamer, titles bought second hand won’t be blocked, so sayeth the king of Sony
Word on the highway was that Sony would be revealing the PS4 console last night. It was wrong– and we still have no idea what the box itself will look like. Happily, the rumour mill was also mistaken about another claim – that second hand games would be blocked on the PS4.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida explicitly said that, “used games can play on the PS4.” Score one for Sony, in the face of rumours that rival next-gen console theXbox 720will block used games.
Of course, with Sony pushing the PlayStation Store as a digital download platform for PS4 gamers, that may be a moot point. But perhaps digital games will be sold at a cheaper price, to tackle second hand sale losses? We can but hope – and wait with bated breath until E3 in June, for more details about the PS4 and Xbox 720.
