Vertu Constellation Ti ditches Symbian for Android

Luxury smartphone maker finally offers an up-to-date OS to oligarchs

Ultra-luxury phone maker Vertu is only going to release a phone with a reasonably up-to-date version of Android on it. Sadly, it still costs more than your average second hand car.

While previous Vertu devices ranSymbian– a dying operating system even by Nokia’s own admission – the Vertu Constellation Ti smartphone breaks the trend with Android 4.0.4 – okay, so that’s onlyIce Cream Sandwichand not Jelly Bean, but your luxury smartphone owner clearly likes a bit of a vintage patina.

While the Ti RM828V, to quote its full name, packs a 1.5Ghz processor, 1,250mAh battery and a 800×480 pixel display, the alleged colour options of titanium black alligator and red mixed gold among others suggest the bling is still very much king.

Depending on how deep your pockets are and how expensive your tastes are, expect to pay somewhere between US$4000 (£2540) to US$10,000 (around £6400).
