Android devices eventually cease to receive major updates, and Samsung tablets and smartphones are no exception. However, the South Korean tech giant has extended its update lifecycle from two years up to three years – even offering four major OS upgrades for recent releases such as the Galaxy S21 series and later models. This offer also applies to the Galaxy A33, A53, and A73 series smartphones as well as subsequent releases.
Samsung’s software support is unparalleled among Android tablet manufacturers, with frequent updates for their tablets. Unfortunately, some of the older models have now reached the end of their cycle and will not be receiving an update to One UI 6.0 – they must remain content with Android 13 and One UI 5. If you’re uncertain whether your Galaxy tablet qualifies for this sweet upgrade to Android 14 and One UI 6.0 check out our comprehensive list below.
These Galaxy tablets won’t get One UI 6.0 (Android 14)
For the specified Galaxy tablets, Android 13 marks their last major OS update. Users of these Samsung tablets won’t be eligible to receive Android 14 or One UI 6.0. However, they will still get security patches for some time ahead. So if your device is running any version older than Android 13 and isn’t listed here – regrettably, you can say goodbye to getting the new firmware too.
Although Samsung has yet to reveal the launch date for their One UI 6.0 system upgrade, based on past Android 13 releases and history, it is likely that we will be able to experience this new OS version on select Galaxy devices in late 2023 or earlier.
The Galaxy S23, S23+, and Ultra are expected to be the first devices with access to Android 14 & One UI 6.0, followed by other older models from the same series and then finally, the upcoming Z Fold 5 & Z Flip 5 units that may ship pre-loaded with One UI 5.1.1 instead of their newer version counterparts.
As we mentioned earlier, it may be disheartening to know that your Samsung tablet is not included in the list of devices slated for One UI 6.0, but you can take comfort in knowing that all standard security measures will still apply. Nevertheless, if you wish to enjoy the upgraded version, then an upgrade must be considered—after all, who doesn’t want a better user experience?
